Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is no different from the first aid you’re familiar with – it’s the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate professional or other assistance (including peer and family support) can be engaged.
MHFA is a 12-hour course (divided into 4 sessions) that will show you how to:
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems (i.e. depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-injury, and substance use disorders)
- Provide initial help & guide a person towards professional help and/or refer them to a CR group!
